The cartridges should be replaced every 3-5 years or whenever your filter pressure gauge increases by more than 8-10 PSI in a 6 month period. Depending on where you live in Canada, a cartridge filter system works best for saltwater pools in established residential areas, as these cannot be drained into the sewer system. If there is a lot of debris or pollen in the air then a sand filter is more practical. If you have a spa or an above ground pool, then a cartridge filter will be the cheapest and most effective choice for optimal water quality.
